:usa2:I think my hobby has become a full time job. I head off into semi-retirement (yeah right!)
The “Dinosaur “ D4 comes home this week, and my friends just dropped off the South Dakota 40 today.
Tomorrow I look at a soon to be scrapped 5 roller D4, and round up a load of D-2s as well. Good thing I have good help, my senior driver goes to central California for a load of CAT goodies.
Life isn’t so bad when one has things to stay occupied with. JM

Hi, Juiceman.
Just in case you need clarification, a metric tonne is 2,200#.

I see you are keeping yourself gainfully occupied. LOL.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

You’re welcome. Thanks on the KW, unfortunately it’s not mine! When they rolled into the area I could hear straight exhaust and engine brakes. I chuckled, as I was guessing it was them ( California trucks have to be compliant for smog, usually not noisy with all the DPF installed). Sure enough, BIG CAT motor and pre-emissions, basically a GOOD one!
12,500# on the steer axle is the norm, with a heavy hauler steer axle and permits, one can go to what? 20-22,000#? D4e can chime in on heavy hauler weights, as groupings and such can differ and allow different weights. The norm is 12.5,34 and 34.

Only way to go. That's exactly why I am down here at Santa Margarita. Oh, and the 'toybox' that is here. LOL.

These kitties were staring at me as if they wanted something. I fed the four legged ones already, so time to “play” or work for some. Don’s Prehistoric D4 got its first bath, while the others waited patiently.
Amazed how something so rough could look better cleaned up.

Hi, Rome K/G.
That is a NON-factory modification - with both braces removed, blade becomes self adjusting for both angle and tilt. I think Cat dispensed with it early on 'cos it made it harder to trim with that modification - a LOTTTT harder. LOL.
