Hi Rome K/G,
it is often the case that people new to these flange fitting joint seals expect that what they see or remove from the O ring grooves is the initial shape of the ring--best example would be the apparent triangular O ring under the forged body fuel injection pumps or the apparent triangular O ring that seals between the fuel filter tower fuel outlet and the injection pump housing.
I can say that the first apparent triangular O ring I encountered had me wondering when the replacement was a conventional O ring--had to ask an old hand about it to have my doubts allayed.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hi Team,
Service Mag article on a known confusing area that George is currently working in with his D9.
Serv. Mag. Feb. 10-67, titled under Test Your Troubleshooting Ability (TSA).
These were helpful articles printed from time to time.

Yes I have replaced allot of those deformed o-rings on the filter housings, thats the first thing I thought too about the yellow flange seal, it was formed to the shape of the trans case seal area.

All I can say is what will happen if this forum disappears???? The knowledge that you guys have is unbelievable.... You have guided me and shared an immense amount of knowledge... I have worked on my D9G with an obsession... My wife wants me to marry her AKA Beastie.... Seriously, when in doubt I can never thank each of you enough... The knowledge shared here is beyond any other forum I have ever been a part of.... Each of you have your roles and knowledge base and each day I am in aw of the engineering for the D9G... You might not know this but I also have a D7G. (I believe 1987). I worked her last week and she is a dream but I never have worked on her like my D9... Anyway I have learned a ton and I am sure a ton is still to come... A big thank you for each of you and your sharing of your knowledge....Mahalo.... (Hawaiian for thank you)

Heahea 'oe [your welcome], there are some very knowledgeable members on this site, young and old, with manuals and literature more than glad to help Cat owners. It's really cool when we can communicate from around the world to help and get to know people and the machines they have. Be safe and enjoy life!
What serial # is your D7G? I have a 1980 92V also.

What Rome said i have been helped a bunch of times too.
SO THANKS TO ALL THAT HELP
George your not the first to be fooled. I was warren about the square looking o-ring in the fuel tower of my D6. But my not so smart help could not get it in his head that looks could be deceiving. A little hard on your ego, maybe. But a lesson learned, not to be forgotten.
