Any hints on how to keep all my tools from winding up in the bellypan or on the ground of my track loader? Trying hard to hold onto those slippery things my hands are getting um she’ll we say 😶 less nimble. I’m wearing myself out getting up and down Retrieving tools.

i know what you mean and constantly climbing is not so fun anymore....
-i just keep my hands and tools as clean and oil free as possible...paper towel or a good cotton rag preferred...
-and seal off any areas where a drop can be another adventure...
probably a lot of other tricks i'm not aware of but you gotta start somewhere...

I feel your pain ! That is one reason I keep a strong telescopic magnet in my tool tray.

Dan,
Depending on the space, I use a piece of old cavass or bath towel to stuff below what I am working on which can be helpful in keeping bolts, washers and tools from descending into oblivion. Most of the time, I get in a hurry, do not follow what I just told you to do, and have to resort to the magnet or grabbers that others have previously mentioned. With my arthritic thumbs, it is more important every year to take the time to "insure" things don't disappear down the hole. The belly pan on my D8 can absorb a lot of stuff and keep it completely out of sight!

Sounds like you need a tool tether kit.
These are commonly found and required for people that engage in overhead construction work. They are also used in areas where foreign materials are controlled such as on the flight line of aircraft maintenance.
