PM me your email and I’ll send you the pdf of the parts manual I’ve got. Also got the operating instructions if you need them.

There is more than one #44 parts catalog that covers the D2, form 31265 is specific to the D2, but was published in 1954 and will not cover all D2s, form #32888 published in late 1957 does a good job covering the #44 on the D2 and most other tractors at that time.
What is the serial # of the tractor and of the #44 unit and what is the application ? tool bar ? loader? etc.

The tractor is a 1953 5U12016 4390 hrs. has 2A bulldozer blade and rear hyd hydraulic implement.
No tag on the #44, and no sign that it ever had a tag.
The one I want is 31265 but don't want to pay stupid money for it
Thanks

Are you looking in the right place for the s/n? Located on the back of the right rear lower side of the tank, barely visible on the tractor.
Better nail down the s/n if your going to need parts, they are not all the same.

I had to sand mine to find the serial # stamped into it. Located the two rivet holes, then sanded in between.

The 2 other 44 units i have, the tag is on the upper rear drivers side. This particular piece has no tag or any visible trace of a tag, rivets or stamping. I will take a chance on it being a 9W.
Thanks for all the interest.

It will be there though Herb, just need to get the wire wheel on to find where it is. Mine is on the right / passenger side rear surface of the tank, can't remember top or bottom, but I swore it didn't have one either, until I went at it and found it. Is a 9W too, single spool. I'd love to have a twin spool for the 3J but I don't think the 44 mounts on a 3J. This was with the unit sitting on the bench in bright light too...
Cheers,
