The long delicate “non adjustable jet” that extends through the throttle body and into the bowl casting is to admit the fixed amount of gas into the idle circuit where it mixes with an adjustable amount of air. It’s been a while and I can’t remember if that one you show is long enough to be complete or not. I think they usually break off closer to the gasket surface where the bowl attaches to the throttle body but there’s no guarantee of that happening the same way every time.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Your right, I was thinking of the idle jet, it's been a long day, lol. Yes I have a new one of those needles and it is tapered on the end with a minute pin hole in the end.

This one on mine doesn't appear to have broken off, the picture now explains to me how the fuel gets in to it (from the end).
When i pulled it out it was easy part of the way, then went tight and took a fair bit of force to get it out, it seems bent to me.

I don't have a parts book here so does anyone have a part number for it and also the little screw-in orifice that sits in the middle of the bowl

If you have the 5F3527 carb then the jet assembly is a 5F7640 and washer 9B4446 and the jet[bottom of bowl] is a 5F7639.
