Hello all, Just daydreaming here, would a U model dash fit on a J model D2? I know the cutout for the U model aircleaner would not be right but are not the mounting holes for the dash/fender and dash/hood in the same places. If so, all you would have to do is make new holes and captive nuts on the U model dash to secure the J model fuel tank and throttle assemblty. The reason I ask is that with a U model dash the cutout for the pony starter drive is already there. What do you guys think? I might just be blowing smoke in my head.LOL:)

As I recall, holes for the gauges and pony flywheel are in the right places, as are the bolt holes for the fenders and hood, the bump for the governor but you're right, the two have different setups for air cleaner mounts, throttles and fuel tank. Why not just take the J model dash and cut out for the electric starter?

Hello ol'Grump, That is exactly what I did. I was just thinking you wouldn't have to cut the dash as the u model already has the indent for the starter drive.:)
