Pushed some top soil off for brother in law. All most finished and started feeling some water splatter. Got off and checked things out. Saw some water coming from water pump. Wasn’t too bad, checked water in radiator and decided to finish up. Got the old girl home and shut down and water pump has issues 🙁. Here some pics of the job, and a video of her warming up and of the water pump issue at the end.

Wow! That’s a first for me....never seen one with even one bad bearing much less both of them.
They are normally over greased and the seals blown out so that grease has filled the inside of the pulley hub and the weep hole on the other end!
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Yup two grease jerks in this. Not over greased. Weep hole was plugged and some water got into bearing area, so that accelerated the issue. After cleaning everything up, didn’t like the looks of the shaft. Climbed in top of the barn where my spares are. Pulled water pump for spare engine. Looks very original, all bearings and seals have cat numbers. Shaft is in near perfect condition. Now to locate the parts i need

Cat should have all the parts, I did my D2 water pump 2 years ago, be careful pressing in the new seal, it is easy to deform the brass.
It has been suggested that would be a good job for sealed bearings, I agree, be leery buying Cat Classic Parts bearings if you go the unsealed bearing route, they are half the price but have fewer balls in the bearing race than the original, worth spending the extra $20 for the heavier load type.
You did well to get the pump out without removing the radiator, its a snug fit in there.

I ordered all of the parts this morning. Posting the updated parts in case anyone else may need them
These fit a 1950 5u machine serial number 9429
Impeller, was 4F4770. New 1M7567 $164
Bellows assy was 4F4769 New 4N7526. $31.46
Seals current number 7B2174. $6.70
Bearings I’m getting from local bearing house, part number for deep groove Double sealed bearing is 6305 2RS @ $20 per bearing
Going to install the two seals as extra protection for the bearings. The only concern I have is these seals typically have lube on one side, and with the sealed bearings that will not be the case. I will put lube between the bearings and the seals, but that will only last for a while. For the little use this gets a while will be the rest of my lifetime lol

The only thing with the sealed bearings is the heat transfer from the pump, dont think they will hold up, its up to you.
