D2 3J won't idle like it used to!

Hi,
I have a D2 3J that idles ok but when you close the throttle it dies before getting to the low idle position. A few years ago, it would idle down all the way then you would pull the knob and put it in off position. Nothing has been adjusted or changed. I watched Sasquatch’s video on rebuilding the governor, so I took the cover off and checked everything. I also took the cover off the rack to see if anything looked out of place, but all looks good to me. I took two videos of the parts and maybe someone has Ideas. I could probably shorten the linkage on the throttle, but I don’t want to yet until I get opinions. Since it used to run ok, I want to trouble shoot before making adjustments.
Thanks, Gary

Good pressure, even when starter pinion is engaged. That was a good thought though, Thanks

Hi Team,
first I would check the Low Idle stop plunger in that big screw/nut on the rear of the Gov. housing--in your Video it is the shiny cylindrical device--looks kind of dry in there so it may have just stuck in a bit from the correct working adjusted position.

Scans below may help--Plunger I speak of is item 3 in screw 4 in the scanned pic.
Keep us in the loop so we can offer more suggestions if this does not overcome the issue, and also so we know that was the culprit for the next person with the same/similar issue.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hi Eddie,
I got the plunger assembly out. Parts book says there are 2 springs, inner and outer but I don't think I can get to them without breaking something. The plunger is only working half of it's travel with half spring load. If the other spring was there it would come out all the way. I called Florin Parts and they are looking for the Plunger Assembly # 5B3093.
I apologize to Squatch for writing Sasquatch in first post.
I will keep you updated,
Gary

I as able to get another plunger assembly (Thank You Jon). The spring tension on the new part was very strong compared to my old one which you could push in with your thumb.
Problem solved. Thanks for the idea Eddie.
