Contact your Cat dealer and see if they deal with Republic Diesel? My Cat dealer does and they do allot of precision Cat parts rebuilding. They can ship the crank to there shop to replace that gear to the newer bolt on type. Republic Diesel 502-561-2201

The gear is 4S7863 $602.13 from Cat and requires 8 0S1604 bolts, $1.71 ea. from Cat and 4 4S7864 locks,$5.72 ea. from Cat.

managed to find this Product Bulletin, Dated, Jan 08 1962,--alas I do not have the Special Instruction (SI) mentioned to carry this out--maybe The Dealer can help you there.
