7U transmission cover removal

Hi again,

I went to remove the trans cover on my tractor (D4 7U18985) and there are a couple grease lines that run down into the steering clutch/ brake compartment. Honestly I didnt look too closely at them this evening but they go down into that area and they are holding me up from removing the cover. Of course the jamb nut that holds the fitting for the grease line into the cover is seized beyond hope and it all turns as one. Doesnt look like great access to hold the backside. Am I missing something easy here or do I get to fight with these things? I'd really like to not wreck the fittings/ lines. Any help as always is appreciated.

They are grease tubes for your steering clutch thrust bearings, the tube p/n is 1H8131 and several are available as used, you are fighting with the "screw" 1H7445 and "nut" 2986-A, if you can get a wrench in under the cover you will find another nut holding the grease tube to the "screw", it looks roughly the same size as the screw you are fighting. Those screws are available as used, but numbers are limited.
Good luck
Mike

Thank you Mike. By some minor miracle I managed to get it apart without demolishing anything. A smack on the box end, some deep creep, and a hint of heat with my propane torch managed to get it.
