Is there any reason why I cant utilize both electric start as well as the pony mounted on the same machine?

No reason at all....in fact it is an ideal combination....just have to find a home for the batteries.

Thanks OLD MAGNET will post pictures as to progress,Saved this one from the scrappers at an auction a couple of weeks ago. $3000 canadian,the engine has less than 1500 hours on it since complete rebuild by a cat dealer,sweet running unit.Has bolt on sprocket segments, did the 9u have them as an option, dont see them in the parts manual?

Segmented sprockets came later....actually pirated from the D5...Usually means you have a D5 undercarriage as the pitch changed slightly from 6.75 to 6.91 inches. May even have the updated duo-cone final seals that were often done as part of the package.
