Greetings to all.
Here I am with the '77 D4D and the powershift trans.
Current project with this toy is replacing the worn out yoke ends on the steering handle linkage. I noticed the right brake pedal is lower than the left. Just about to the point of engagement but not quite. Park brake levers all move and operate. The brake pedal will sink low enough to apply the park brake. About two clicks on the lever.
Left side has plenty of free play and works just fine.
Any ideas?

Hi Bruce,
as a starting point, after checking for crud behind the pedal stop--if fitted--and the lever back at the Steer Brake cover then check that the linkage rod between the pedal and the rear external brake lever is 20.00" to 20.08" between the pin centres in the rod ends. Also check for pedal and rear lever shaft pivot bearing seizure.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Think I would check and see if the return spring is still hooked up on that side.

The spring is accounted for. I even tried pulling up on the pedal from the backside and it is stuck hard. Crud should be moving at least a bit.
So, tomorrow will be Mothers day and the wife can drive her toy to put a road in on the back of the land. Have fun dear.
After her road is in, I will get it closer to a hose and pull the floor pan again. It took me awhile to figure out bungee cords to get that done.
So, as long as it working, even barely, it will get used.
Monday is the cable and the tension plug for the winch. This fun is not going to end soon.

Bruce, on my 5U the shafts on the brake pedal and the actuating arm inside the brake chamber were both "tight" and it was only after both were shined up with sandpaper and liberally coated with copper anti-seize that the full operation was restored. So you could try flooding them with penetrating fluid to see if that helps but you might be up for a disassembly to get it fully operational again. The upside though is that then it works correctly. The brakes on my 5U feel like power disc brakes they work so well. Just a light touch and it's a solid and smooth stop.
Cheers,
Neil
