I am out here in Oregon and have about another 2 hour of day light today.
I have been slowly trying to melt the cable out of the ferule and I believe it will at some point tonight finally twist out of there.
The lock plate and fastener that are suppose to retain the cable were long gone before I got this machine.
The hole taps out at 3/8-16 and a slab of metal will get me a new plate for the next cable.
Back to torch city and that will end this day.
Thank you all once again for your knowledge and insight.

Got it all apart and tomorrow will pick up a new 3/4" cable with 3 chokers on it. Then a trip to the other side of town to get the tension plug for the winch and after filling it with new fluid after pulling the side cover, it should be done.
I also get to fab the ferule cover and locate a grade 8 bolt to retain it.
I figure 100' of 3/4 cable should be more than sufficient. Then the only problem being the fluid refill and how much?
Thank you all once again for all the information.

The lock is a #6P1511, the bolt is a 1T0765. Hard to tell in the parts diagram but the bolt appears to be a flanged 12 pt cap screw.

Hiya.
Thank you for the info about the lock. I will see if the CAT dealer can put a locate on those when I go see him this morning for the tension plug and inquire about the hyd fluid.
After I get the cable made up and visit the hardware store... This fun never ends.
I have a feeling the tension plug replacement will wait until I get the next round of parts ordered up.
