Hello to all,
I'm new here and not sure if this is the right way to find out information about a D4 crawler.
I'm from germany and work for the Zeppelin firm, the german Caterpillar dealer.
We bought a D4 Crawler (tractor number 7U1412) for our branch. We are looking now for furthermore information about this tractor (no blade, no winch)
I contacted Lee Fosburgh from CAT archive and got information that this tractor was built in 1947 in Peoria.
It would be very interesting for us to get more information as sales price in year of construction, first and / or futhermore owner, sales brochure and so on.
If anyone can help or has any idea who can help I would be very glad.
By the way I found for this machine a microfiche with spare parts list in our branch, dated from October 1973. Unbelieveable, the tractor is 73 years old and Caterpillar still offers spare parts for engine after such a long time :-)
We have bought a second D4 with blade and winch, the tractor number of this second dozer is 7U21594. We are also interested in getting information for this dozer.
Thanks in advance
Holger

Folk here will help. They need to know the entire numbers. Like Mine is D4 7U 18. Then they can tell you what manuals you need.

I'd like to renew my question: has anybody an old price list or any idea how much was a D4 (7U) tractor (no dozer/blade, no winch) in the end of the 1940s?
