I have been reading on here about what oil to use in the clutch and hydraulics and it seems like SAE 30 is the right thing, but do you use the non detergent or with additives? (Motor oil)
On the side of the injection pump there is a filler cap, is this just another port for crankcase oil? or is that a separate lube reservoir for the pump?
Can someone tell me what the shift pattern is on the transmission please? Mine only moves forward and back, from reading this a 5 speed if I am correct and I think I am only able to get it in 3rd and 4th gears.
Thank you all for helping the greenhorn figure out this cool old piece of yellow Iron.

Normally use the engine motor oil in the clutch but Cat now recommends TO4 oil in clutch assembly's
the injection pump has its own small reservoir for oil
your operators manual should show you the shift pattern
the hydraulics should have hydraulic oil aw32---I use aw46 which is a little bit heavier

30W transmission/drive train used in oil in clutch and transmission.
30W engine oil in injection pump housing.
50W or 80-90W gear oil in final drives.

Thank you for the replies, I have a service Manuel and parts book, waiting for the operators Manuel to arrive. I will be changing the engine oil on her tomorrow night.
