Yes low/no pressure is the result.

The D311-D318 engines and possibly others actually have an oil pressure control that restricts the suction port of the oil pump as necessary to control oil pressure. Never saw that on any other engines. Most use a pressure relief on the output to bleed excess flow back to sump.
