D4 pony babbit main bearing removal?

More

This looks like a babbitt main bearing on my pony engine? Any tips on removal? I’m assuming it won’t just pull out, should I melt it or cut it? Or is just a corroded alloy one that will pull no problem? Thanks!

See if these help-wrt Hectors question above. Do you have a parts book? if not, friendly suggestion to get one for your machine. If I recall correctly, your machine is above S/N 2xxx.

Have fun-

Did you removed the dowel

The pony on my 955C "It's brand new" he said, "my nephew and I rebuilt it", he continued but when I got it home it had all new parts but it did need some assembly. In the process I noticed the new dowel had not been seated properly; as I moved the pony block where I had better access the old rusted dowel pin fell out. With that I pulled the pony back apart and rechecked, retorqued and prelubed everything.
Know that those dowels need seated firmly not aggressively just firmly..
sorry no pics

Those bearings are aluminum I believe. Replaced mine with oilite due to needing a 030 undersize

Thanks guys, excellent that’s a relief, it was the guy I took the crankshaft to who’d said it looked like Babbitt, I wasn’t sure. I shall take the dowel out and try a bearing race puller to see if it moves. Fingers crossed!
I had to get a reconditioned crankshaft from Florin as the spun bearing gouged the crankshaft journal and it had already been ground undersize..
Fun and games!
