Hi Deas,
equipment catalogue collector Daniel Foged from DownUnder just shared this scan of a 988 Carry Loader from a Danish dealer magazine. Thanks Daniel for the use here! In the same issue, they also portrayed the 992A. When I look at the cab of the Carry Loader, as its operator, I probably would have favored a sideways seat like in a scoop tram.

Hi , here is the spec sheet of this singular loader . It is dated 1970 , so 50 years old . To be honest , I have never met a situation where this machine could axcell . To my opinion it was a tire- and wheelbearing eating machine .
I wonder if one was sold .
The Netherlands , johan7

Hi johan7,
in our German CAT literature the 988 Carry Loader was described as a machine that actually found some customers, but was bought back quickly when the first frames started to show severe frame cracking. Same did happen to the first diesel-elictric dump trucks Cat developed in this era.
Thanks for sharing the spec sheet. I only have seen the cover so far.
Best regards,
Max

Hi Rome K/G,
yupp. If you build a loader like this, then I would turn the seat 90 degrees.
Best regards,
Max

Yea Agreed! This is where the new joy stick controls would be handy, But some of these "operators" nowadays have a hard enough time getting one bucket full let alone two! lol

Double yupp! Once watched a TV report about the diesel electric Letourneau Log Stackers. Was maybe a late 70ies or 80ies model. It had a rotating operators station with a foot switch to turn it around as needed. The operator pointed out this was improving safety a lot, as there was ground crew around at this saw mill.
Take a spin!
