Thank you Gary for the offer. Yes I may take you up when I am ready. I'm not far from Idaho for sure. About 2hrs north of Spokane. I've been occasionally following your D2 build and it looks like some nice work you've done.

Yup I googled fruitvale and it looks like about 2hrs . Not to sure about taking parts across the border but I dont think it's a big deal. Would be a nice day trip and a good chance to check out some yellow gold!

Yes Gary 2hrs away is a hop skip and a jump really. I will get in touch with you when things simmer down. No one is crossing for non essential as I am sure you know. I'm probably not ready to cart parts or a parts machine home but would be good to meet you and see your D2 project.

I know the feeling i have been looking for a old cat 70 or 80 scraper to convert to hydraulics and pull behind a tractor. About 6 months ago i went and bought 3 blades from a guy and we where talking. He said yea we just hauled a big cable scraper to the scrap yard yesterday we got $500 for it. I knew he saw the look on my face when he said it, i told him i had been looking for one for years.
He said well hell i would have gave it to you. The family had been in the dozer business for about 50yrs and the old man died so the family just came in and junked everything.

One sad story after another. That's disappointing. The same friend scrapped a bunch of other stuff that I was maybe less interested in than the D4 but still would have given or found a good home given the chance. He had an Adams grader that had a six cylinder gas to diesel IHC engine. I think it would have been in ok shape given the old man that had it took the time to replace the tandem drives as the old ones were on a scrap pile near by. Also was a Wisconsin V4 powered welder on a pull trailer. I'm not too picky when stuff is free or darn near.
