Financial Statement?? was created by D4Jim
Does anyone have a status or update as to how we are coming along with the ACMOC financial statement? I realize it is a "mind boggling" task to pull all the information together but just curious how we are doing.
Thanks to everyone that is working on it.

Did you really expect an answer?

There must be financial information available to the Board to operate the organization. Why can't the subscribers see the operating figures - is it that bad?

Sue has been working her butt off with review and concurrence of the Finance Committee and is close to being completely updated into the new system. It has been a huge job going back into receipts and records, and in a few cases even talking to folks that donated, to get everything sorted out to insure that all moneys are shown in the category where they belong, scholarship fund, general funds, dues, liabilities of dues paid in advance, general sales, etc. We will all be happy when it is done. Thank you for your patience.

EDIT: We are always looking for committee help. We would appreciate more volunteers.

That's about the same answer we've been getting for the last year+.

I don't expect the new treasurer to correct the mistakes that have been going on for years. No one will be able to make a "perfect" statement when the process was screwed up for years.

Is the Board not getting a simple profit/ loss statement to show how good or bad the organization is doing?

How about posting some information on the "members" section of the website?

Hi, D4Jim and phildirt.
Like you - and a LOTTTTA other people, I would like some answers. BUTTTT, I think I'd rather have the WHOLE story in ONE installment than to be given a patchwork quilt of bits and pieces only to find somewhere down the track that some of the pieces have to be moved or changed.

Let's give Sue and the others working with her the time they need to get it ALL sorted out and back on track, hopefully with new sprockets, idlers, rollers. rails and track plates that will have a long and trouble-free service life.

As I understand it, this club was in pretty dire financial straits around 18 months ago. If the current committee can rescue it, I'm prepared to give them whatever time they need to do it.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

There are many of us that do expect and insist on getting it right. Folks that gave donations for a specific fund, scholarship is a good example, want to know that the monies are used for what they were donated for. When funds need to move from the general fund into the category they belong, it changes the balances and makes a simple profit/loss statement inaccurate. The team is spending a lot of hours working hard to get it right and they all have to still make a living besides. As I stated before the committee's will all welcome help.

As a new member of the board of directors and a new member of the finance committee I have just left a 2hr meeting of the latter. Sue, our treasurer is doing a fantastic job of sorting out the mess that she inherited. It takes a lot of her time trawling through inadequate records from the past, but it has to be done and it must be done properly. I can tell you that membership numbers are showing a downwards trend which needs to be reversed. Every time I visit this bulletin board, I realise what huge value it is to many people, especially those trying to solve problems. I see some very knowledgable and experienced people freely sharing that knowledge and experience. Sadly I also see some people who are not paid up members of the club (i.e. not financial members) making lots of posts including starting threads. Personally I think that those who make a lot of use of this resource should become paid up members of the club if they are not already. ACMOC is investing around $30k in redeveloping the website including this bulletin board and we need all the help we can get. So, I urge all those freeloaders who benefit from this forum to dig into their pockets and either join the club or at least make a donation so we can continue to provide this service.
The information mentioned by D4Jim will be available to paid up members when our treasurer is happy that the mess she inherited is sorted out and that the information given is accurate.

Almost 3 more months have gone by-

The last information at the website is from December, 2019. About a 6 line "treasurer's report". No mention of a restricted report for the BOD.

How can you be planning to spend $30k for a new website when you don't know what you have and what is encumbered?

I don't really expect an answer - just the same old line about "we are working on it".

Phil,

This quarter's newsletter has gone to the printers for a mid-May mailing and has within it a current statement from the Treasurer after much work by her and her committee. As others have said, it has taken a lot of work to sort out where we are and finally, this has been accomplished. Please take a look and thereafter offer questions. We will do our best to give you the answers.
