RD6 Pony Backfiring through carburetor?

More
4 years 3 months ago #218257 by juiceman

I finally got back to my project and got the pony running smoothly. I ended up removing the pony head and noticed that #1 intake valve was a bit sticky. I cleaned and oiled that valve and it runs like a champ again. Hopefully others can learn from my frustrations with this pony. I actually think that the pony on my 46A might have a slight issue with one of the valves too. These little flatheads don’t get run much and do a lot of sitting. Whatever supplemental lubrication we can give the valve train can only help I believe.

Hah! Good job! I had a bad valve spring on mine, assumed it was just a sticky spring. Steve F. Figured it out and got mine running nicely.
Glad you got it going again. JM
