Hello,

I am looking at buying a 1965 CATD8H. Does anyone know a good CAT guy to do an inspection in the Sacramento area? Also, does 8000 for a 65 cat d8 sound like a good price? The unit has a nice set of parallelogram rippers on the back.

JK----

You may have to wait a couple of days to get an answer from the "experts"---most of them have probably headed up to Woodland for the big show being held out there this week end.

There are some very knowledgeable troops located right there in your back yard.

In the meantime
would be good if you could post up some pictures and give the "experts" a little more information to work on. Lots to consider on a tractor that size
would be well worth your while to get somebody to take a look with you
(primary components to drag that big ripper will be engine, transmission and undercarriage
won't need the ripper if you don't have everything running up front):D .

Hang tight
they will be back on the board in a couple of days.

Good luck

I don't have any pictures, but the S/N is 46A10860

The Cat dealer tells me that this is a 1965 unit.

It is a pony start with powershift and a straight blade.

jk...that's approximately 70,000lbs of iron with the ripper and S blade, so it's basically being sold for scrap value.

I figured the price was about scrap value, but transportation probably adds another 2k to the price. I have to move it about 100 miles.

For a good Cat Mechanic call Ellis Bouvier @ E&A Heavy Equipment. His cell is 530-905-1995. He worked on a lot of equipment for the Woodland Best Show. He got the Best steamer together. Tell him Glen sent you. I asked for his card after I read your post.-glen

It is late enough to be better than the early Hs. At 46A3044 they started using the oil torque and before that used the fuel oil torque so that,s a plus.
