Steering Clutch Control Arm Shaft D42T

I have a bead on a pair of 1.250 inch STAINLESS STEEL shafts for the steering clutch control arms on my D42T. They are salvage from a boat teardown, so I can get them pretty reasonable and have the end tapped and the holes drilled in them for the cotter pins.

My thought is that this is way overkill and will hold up very well where the pin bearings ride the shaft.

Any thoughts???

Probably work ok......would help to know what type ss it is as some are pretty soft. Also flex/fatigue life might be a concern as ss does not have much of a fatigue/bending cycle life and it's been known to occasionally have one of the original shafts break.
If it's a 316 type I'd say ok but I would be hesitant to use a type 304.
