Does anyone know the differences between a Hyster D2 and D2N winch? Can anyone post the spec sheets on either model. I would like to install a D2 winch on my 5UD2 SN#15143. Other than adding risers under the seat tank is there any other modifications to be made?

I think the seat risers are about the only modification that might be needed. As far as the difference between the D2-D2N winches, they probably have the same differences as the D4-D4N winches, namely in the braking system. One will have an external brake band on the drum and the other will probably have an internal expanding brake system in the drum. I have a D2 5J and it has the D2 winch. .no problems with it that I've known about. That little kitty was used locally for years as a logging Cat for a small outfit on a lodgepole tree farm.

The D2 winch is constructed almost exactly ths same as the D2n, except all parts are more heavy duty on the d2n and the D2n weighs about #250 more, meaning all the parts are in the same places and appear similar but most will not interchange. the two winches will bolt up the same to any d2.

The instructions have the mounting and modification instructions for the different D2s, there is a fair amount of fender modifications needed, along with the seat risers.
I would recomend going through the winch and replacing all seals and any bearings that are needed, they are prone to self distruction if not in proper condition, and the parts are very hard to find.

Thanks for the info on the D2N Josh. It appears that the D2N is the heavier replacement for the earlier D2 winch. I assume the winch was made heavier because the D2 tractors were being produced with more weight and power? Can anyone verify my hunch.
