After a 2 month overhaul wait, I finally took delivery of my "new" D2 S/No 5U 16055 last week, and haven't been able to stop playing since then. I just ordered an Operators Manual and a Service Manual, but they will be 1-2 weeks delivery. In the meantime I'm worried about track roller and idler lubrication. Can someone please help me with the basic lubrication points and requirements? Also, do I need a special grease nipple/adaptor for the track gear?

congrats on the new tractor! If the rollers and idlers have large "buttonhead" fittings, you have to use track lube (00 weight grease) which is pumped in through a volume (not pressure) pump so you don't blow out the seals. If you can't find one, you can buy a buttonhead coupler with a pressure relief to put on a standard grease gun, just DON'T use chasis weight (#1, 2 or 3) ball and roller bearing grease.

Any rollers with plugs instead of buttonhead fittings will need 30wt oil poured into them. There is also a small tool to fill these available from CAT if you want.
