The D6 tractors ran at 1550 or 1750 high idle depending on the year. Low idle was 550 or 660.

Industrial engines like yours could have been set at either 1200 or 1800 rpm (full load, not high idle) when used for a generator set or anywhere in between.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

CC is right there is such a wide range of RPMs & load that you almost need to get the BE specs to get the correct RPMs. We used to sell them at the Cat dealer but can,t remember the settings. My Cat rack setting book has a wide range of settings as CC stated and the excavator settings range from 1000 RPMs full load to 1700 RPMs full load.According to the Cat book why don,t you try the center range and start out with 1660 high idle setting and this will give you 1500 FL and 109 HP.If you don,t think it,s enough then go to the 1850 high idle and 1700 full load. If this is too high then drop the hogh idle to where you think it works best.Maybe some one on here has a 22B that can give you a little more info. Many times the ind. engines has a plate with the RPM settings & rack settings so check around it. If you find anything post it and I,ll check it in my book.

My 22b Book says 76hp@1465rpm 68hp@1395rpm that narrows it down a little closer for you.
