One time I went to an old equip. show in Ohio and they had an old D17000 oil testing engine there but it seems they used 2 cylinders as the D17000 is a V-8 and same bore as the D7 & D8 of 5 3/4". and the V-8 D364 & D375 & the V-12 D386 & D397 all had the 5 3/4" bore pistons in them too.

I see the two that are in oragon don't have a flywheel. How do you tell if it is a early or later engine?

Manuals are still available for the 1Y73, I don't know about the other SCOTE (Single-Cylinder Oil test Engine) models.

We posted on ACMOC for help with obtaining such a manual, but eventually we obtained one through a friend on another forum who contacted Ohio Cat and ordered the book.

Cost for the Service Manual was $US 27.00 plus postage.

I got the parts book direct from a very helpful guy at Cat HQ.
