i have a D2 and i am having trouble getting spark i do no know where to start can someone help all that i can see for wires off of the mag is the two spark plug wires i do not know if i need more thanks let me know.

only other one is the kill wire if you want to have it hooked up. NOT needed, cut off gasoline valve and let it run dry each time.

Which mag do you have?

If you remove the cap and there's a rotor inside there that is gear driven and spins on a small shaft, BEFORE you remove it, notice how it's timed to the drive gear.

Anyway, most common thing is for the points to be dirty or corroded. So start with that, file them with a points file, diamond fingernail board or just sandpaper. Clean with clean paper or cloth pulled through the points and then set points gap to about 0.016-0.020.

Had same issue with pony on D4 7U (HT4) could not obtain spark. The major issue with points was corrosion from sitting for several years. I took 400 grit carborundum paper, folded over three times (this maintains approx .012 to..015 clearance between points) and more important maintains parallelism between point pads. Draw folded paper through points 4-5 times one direction then opposite direction. I cleaned with alcohol and "Q" tip to remove residual metal particles.
Mag would draw 1/2 to 3/4 inch of spark when cleaned and operating correctly.
