I bought some NOS 6F1945 rod bearings, and some are in boxes and some are in wax without a box. In 2 of the boxes, they are marked upper and lower in ink, but I really can't tell any difference between them. In one of the boxes, they are not marked upper or lower. I never removed the wax from the other bearings. On 1 of the waxed bearings, there is a tag on the back and it doesn't say upper or lower on it. What's suppose to be the difference. Is there a way to tell. Does it make a difference if they get reversed at all by accident? Does anyone know? They should have had that stuff stamped in the back of them.

The 6F1945 bearings come in sets of two (upper & lower) that should be identical halves. Be on the look out for bottom shells that may have a slightly elongated dowel hole to assist with overall alignment.

OM, your right on as that is the difference with them is the dowel hole in the one and it does go to the bottom where the dowel is located.

Thanks guys, you are right. I measured them with my caliper and the one half has a slighter elongated hole and I guess that's the lower one the way it sounds. I cut the wax loose on the other individidual baerings and I see that I have a few more uppers than lowers. Can I take a die grinder or a file and slightly elongate the hole so I can use them on the bottom?

I never heard of it being done but I cannot see why it shouldn,t work if you do it right.
