The Double Dude and Big Dude blades were Balderson blades, not Peterson blades.
Buster Peterson pioneered the Siamese D8 in 1950 .. and then designed the Quad-Trac or Dual D9G (DD9G) .. then went to Cat with the idea for the Side by Side D9G (SxS D9G) .. the first in 1964, the second in 1969.

The 24' SxS D9G blade is small compared to the Double Dude, which was set up for sidecasting only.
The Big Dude was a supersized U blade designed to fit a single tractor.

The Peterson Twin D8 were made for Morris and Knuitson Co.to Clear the guulies and ravines on the Central Valley Project (Shaste Dam) in nothern Calif. they were D8-2Us attached side by side. I never saw them use the blade much but the pulled a big ball between them most the time and thse just had Cat 8A blades that were welded together to make them wider. I think all the tractors got junked but 1 ball is still at a junkyard in Redding.
My uncle workd on the project and one summer vacation I spent the summer with him and went to work many times just to watch the twins clear land. Funny this came up I have been thinking about trying to bring the ball to the show but I just dont have the time.
