I found some D4 2T valves on ebay and wanted to know if they will fit in a D2 5J? They look very similar.

5J uses
4B3149 exhaust
4B3150 intake
can't tell you about the 2T

The 7J which also is the D4400 engine D4 the valve #s is 2A3289 in. & 2A3360 ex.but if you had each valve in your hand (D2 & D4) you could take measurements of each one. Some on here have stated they have machined valves to fit another engine so they could use them.

Thanks for the info. Head size isn't too important, the cylinder head could be machined to fit. The only dimension I have concern about is the length. Also why different part numbers for intake and exhaust? Are they make from different metals?

The valves could be made from different material but the head size is what makes the difference too as the in. valve head is larger than the ex. valve head.Some guys have said they machined new grooves for the keepers the latch on but then again the stem diameter and length would have to be right to do it.You might try a NAPA auto store as they might have the right valves for your tractor.

its been 4 years back but i think i took some d4 valves and made cat 22 valves out of them. the stem diameter was the same and my machinist son cut new keeper grooves and to length. i also used sbc valve springs in it. it was a real barker. about a week after putting it together the head developed a crack/leak, i remember getting a head from someone in montana. sam i think. this 22 had rear hand crank start and a friend back in indiana still has it.

i saw those too. it lookstome he piced the best valve as far as its thickness is concerned. the others almost look fresh ground and thinner. sorry i can't help with id for 5 j.

Many moons ago, I had a car from across the pond, and I machined Ford 6cyl exhaust valves, and Pontiac intake valves to fit in a 2660 cc Austin Healy
Had to cut new keeper grooves, and shorten the stems. Went through a size chart at a local parts jobber, and found the correct stem dia. and head dia.
