Ten or Fifteen?

Ten or Fifteen? was created by carlsharp
With a fair amount of sanding, scraping and brushing I can't find a S/N. Thanks Cattmatt for the location diagram.

Any opinions on what this is? I read that the 10 and small 15 U/Cs are identical, so any other way to tell?

I have more pics so if you need a detail shot of anything let me know.

If you cant find a number stamped in the machine surface between seat and gearshift cover it wouldnt matter could be either. look around in protected areas under the yellow paint if you find grey it will be 10only a couple hundred 10s were yellow and no 15s were grey. Also looking at area infront of trans oil filler to where the engine bolt to bell houseing on top would be protectected by gastank on a 15 and should have nicer paint then open areas

a easy way to identify a small 15 is the Cast Iron covered main spring pirch for lack of a better name see pic

Steve-
This is what I've got. Is the covering in addition to, or instead of?

The spring covers at the endsof the main spring and is the drawbar on this tractor. also the grease tube inlets for steering clutch throw out bearing are recessed on the 7c 15. Also the part no on the spring caps for track tightners are a 1B part no. These were available as replacments also.

Upon looking at the photo posted it should be a ten.

It even looks like it was an early TEN by looking at the drawbar brackets in the first picture.

Those are the early brackets. I see that there is not a boss on the rear end case which would be the mounting area for the brass tag which was found on the later 7C tractors. The serial number should be stamped in the top as Catmatt has directed you to, but some slipped through with no numbers being stamped.

As understand it, the u/c parts are identical to the 7c small 15, yes?

Are the finals, steering, gear case, trans the same too? How far upstream does the match go?

Thanks
