So there I was, ready to get to that seal, take it out and put in the new one. And... hopefully, the leak would not be there when I was done.
I wanted to get ready. So I got all the tools I thought I would need; I put em on the ground so I could get to them. Yea, I had a plan. And I was ready!
I cleaned the gasket around the cover yesterday; that way I'd be ready to get to it first thing the next day. Parts took an extra two days cause of the holidays - tis' the season. And, I looked over the 'Bulletin Board' to make sure I would get it right. You guys were pretty good at telling me how it would go. Actually, it went off without a hitch. The pump came out just like I was told -and I held the 'plunger' in place so it would'nt fall. When I got to the seal, it was like a pyramid with no sides; like an upside-down little balck cone with a hole in the center. It was shaped just like the void it was supposed to seal. When I took it off it just fell apart. But I got it all off and put the new one on. It was plexible and round like a dounut. The pump went back on okay too. I lined-up the notch on the gear and the throddle control the first time. The plate went on easy.
When I fired it up, the leak was gone! Ya!
Hell, if I could do that, I could do just about anything - yea right...
Anyway, I went ahead and took some slack out of the steering, the front alignment and the front wheel bearings. That machine is old. But it's sturdy; and it works well.
So now I'll have to get to changing the oil. Hmmm, here comes my next post.
Oh yea... Thanks again for all the assistance that I recieved here at this Forum. Not sure I coulda' done this 'little job' without it; I do know that it woulda' went a lot harder without it.

Glad you got your fuel leak repaired and I have seen dozens of them like that get hard from age, heat & fuel. You might want to think about changing the rest of the seals there under the pumps as they probably are all the same age and in the same bad shape and will only be a short time till another one or more will be leaking.
