Don't expect too much help from the USPS. They mis-delivered some scale models I had purchased and refused to pay the insurance claim I submitted (I purchased the additional Ins). They claimed thier records showed the package was delivered and signed for. Thanks to another ACMOC/ACME user, I received the delivery record and it showed the package WAS signed for, by some unknown person and it became evident they delivered to the wrong address. I had to fight the beuracracy to receive payment on the insurance that was purchased to protect me in such a matter. Good luck (Said sarcastically).

Kelly, what year was your train schedule? John

John, I have not a clue…my guess would be in the late 40’s early 50’, but the postage was only 0.5 Cents, thats right 0.05 Cents. They are just some things in the archives. I have some more, but they get more complicated. So, best not to confuse the boys/girls in the mail room. LOL! I just throw that out there of the H*** of it . ;)

I never did get my magazine and had to call for a replacement. Since then I have found out the following off the USPS site. I know I will be use dialing that 800 number a lot.:D

Who do I contact if my magazine / periodical is late?

If you are experiencing a delay in receiving magazines or periodicals, please contact the publisher of the magazine to ensure that they have your correct information and that the subscription has not expired. If the issue is recurring and you have already contacted the magazine publisher, please call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) to have Customer Service research the problem.

Call our office at (309) 694-0664 and ask for a replacement magazine. They usually send it by first class mail. The Postal Service isn't as efficient as it was decades ago (before zip codes were invented to put the "zip" in our mail!). GWH

John, although the old phone number will work (for a few months), the new office phone number for ACMOC is 309-691-5002. Thought I'd clarify that. GWH

Good luck getting any help from the USPS Customer Service Group. :D
The last two times I contacted them I had to wait for over 30 min to talk to a rep and after that never heard a thing either time.
Our local post office received a letter 93 years late that was mailed 100 miles away.

Jim is absolutely correct. Knowing government monopolies like the Post Office, they have no incentive to improve their service. We hope that by mid-year we will have an application in to the postal service for periodical mailing privileges, so that if granted, our magazines will be delivered faster just like the magazines from, say, Readers Digest or Sports Illustrated. Our staffer, Jenny, who is working on that project, says that she has instructions from the postal service that are over 100 pages long that tell you how to fill out the 2 page application. And they require all kinds of information, and demand that our publication contain certain things including a name. What we need is some competition in the business of delivering mail. Just my two cents. GWH

The post office is basically useless when it comes to responding to complaints.
Last year my accountant mailed my tax return back to me certified and registered mail, it took 5 weeks to travel 450 miles, because some non-English speaking employee had routed it to the post office in San Juan, TX, where it sat for over 4 weeks. I had called the postal inspectors, because of it having all my personal information, and they said that they would not consider any thing out of the ordinary until 12 weeks had passed.
Several years before that, the optician I use in San Antonio, mailed my eyeglasses, it only took 3 weeks to go 200 miles, and the post office said that was a quick trip.
Now I am trying to confirm that some paperwork I sent to USAA, using, after paying for 'delivery confirmation' has been received, it has been 6 days, and no record of it being delivered.
It is just too bad that UPS or FedEx does not have the ability to deliver letters cheaply, as they are so much more reliable.

George, here's some food for thought. Why not make the newsletter available to paid members via E-mail or a link on the BB? Still send the NL out through regular channels, but allow there to be a link on the website for those of us who receive the NL so late, or not at all. Back when I was involved in Ch4, we gave the option of receiving the local NL through e-mail. And proofing the Ntl NL was done via e-mail. PM me if you want to discuss it more.

Bruce, that has been fully discussed at the board meetings in the recent past and rejected, because the magazine would end up getting pirated, given to friends, or worse, put on the Internet free for everyone. Then there would be no reason to be a member of the club and pay for the production of the publication. GWH
