That appears to be the specs for the 3T series....The 17a used the D339 engine with early serial numbers ( prior to 17A11878) at 123 hp and bare tractor weight was 26,555 lbs. Direct drive, oil clutch, no turbo....a very good unit.

The early D7 17A's are a very good tractor. There quite simialar to the old 3T series but have a totally redesgned enigne plus a few other small things and pull alot more as well. You can lug there engines down till you can just about count the fan blades going round. Slow Revving with plenty and plenty of GRUNT.

They where a little prone to cracking heads but that usaully comes down to the operator and cooling system care.

Alot of parts are still avalible from cat which is handy.

Old Magnets horsepower fiqure is correct.

All the best with her

Billy

They also had an oil clutch rather than a dry one which helped the life of things in the clutch.Yes indeed they had a completely new D339 engine in them and about the only thing carried over from the old 3Ts D8800 engine were the size of the bore and stroke.

Hi Bruce,
There seems to be a problem with both those spec sheets:rolleyes:
All the 17A's are oil clutch and although the engine displacement is the same the bible (rack setting charts) is quite clear on the horsepower ratings.

Don't see how they can use the same Nebraska test as the one is dated 1940 and the 17A came out in 1954.

Also on production I show the 17A ending in 1961 and the 47/48A coming out in 1962.

Per parts book on this serial number unit the operating weight is given as 26,930 lbs.

Sorry, I don't seem to own a correct spec sheet for the 17A either although I have all the related manuals.

I dont think there ever was a nebraka test for a 3T. They only have one for a 7M.

There where 2 Nebraska test for the D7 17A. One for the C series and one for the D series.

My book shows for D7 17A 9921 built 1958, 9150-12132. First 17A built in 1954, I don't see how the NE rest could be for the 17A series. catskinner
