I'm researching track chain repair options for my Cat 2 Ton and have been told the D3 pin works, but needs to be trimmed for length, so I'm wondering does the D3 bush also fit those 2 Ton chains, or are there other options?
Does anyone have the D3 pin and bush part numbers, and dimensions they can share, I have what I believe are a old worn 2 Ton pin and bush, the pin diameter is roughly 1.141", length is 5.65", the bush diameter is 1.82", length is 3.4", roughly, and I have what I think is a part number for the D3B pin, possibly 6Y1717, which I think has a diameter of 1.85", but I'm not certain.
I also have a Berco number CR4747/39 which supposedly is for a pin and bush kit for the D3B, but there are no dimensions.
Thanks
Mike

My Cat undercarriage book says the D3 and 931 share the same track chain, but it does not tell you the length and diameter of the bush, only the length of the pin, so if someone has a 931 parts book, can you please let me know the part numbers, that would be a big help.
Thanks

Hi Mike,
here you go from a Caterpillar Undercarriage Conversion Guide, Form No PEGP2806, Rev 04, 1991.

Thankyou for the scan Eddie, my 1989 Cat undercarriage book shows the D3 NC and 931 NC have a bush outer diameter of 1.85", and that is the size I'd need for my 2 Ton chains, not the later beefed up bushes of 1.97" as shown in your book.
All the best
Mike

How long is the MS090-8 bush Eddie, and pin diameter, I can't see that dimension in the books, or am I really going blind? LOL
My 1989 book list the MS090-8 bush as having a outside diameter of 1.85"

Hi Mike,
sorry, that"s about all I can help you with. If the dimensions vary then that is unfortunate BUT, they must be close--maybe need to call W Adams Technical Service and ask for some further clarification--or only other thing is see if you can order 1 each of the pin and bush and find out the expensive way. Maybe a used track somewhere local you can measure.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Thankyou Pete, it looks like the bush is stepped at both ends, unfortunately that will not work in the 2 Ton track link, they need a straight bush, back to the drawing board.

Hi Team,
be aware that there are stepped and straight bushes--stepped for Salt (Sealed and Lubricated Tracks) and straight for sealed only tracks--also known as squeaky tracks.
Cheers,
