King,
What was your monster truck origonally? It looks like a Military style Dodge Power Wagon. I will try to post a photo of my old Dodge that has been in the family for the past 53 years.

King---
Great trip to Brochet----enjoyed the posting. (reckon you could turn the heater up a little on the next trip?)
Seeing the "pressure ridge" crack is interesting
I remember seeing something about them from a show on the Discovery Channel a few years ago covering "ice road trucking". How often do you run up on one of them??? Presume in reality the "pressure ridge" serves the same purpose as the joints in a concrete slab highway----allowing some flex???
Also caught up on latest news on Sterling's sunken Cat. Hoping ya'll get some heavy ice this winter----want to see that Cat back up top.
Good luck----keep us posted on all the adventures of the King of Obsolete.

Being from south Louisiana, I was fascinated when I discussed the technique of driving on a frozen lake with a Cat pulling a trail of wagons. It seems that a wave is generated by the weight and speed of the Cat train (it precedes the motion of the equipment). It also seems that if you go a little too fast, you can outrun the wave which results in breaking through the ice.
Apparently they wait for this situation because in northern Manitoba, it's a lot faster going across the frozen ice than it is to drive the roads around the lake. That trip would have to be several hundred million miles around the lake to make it worthwhile for me.
The whole thing sounds like a death wish, like suicide. Anytime I go out on water (even if it has made a temporary change of state from liquid to solid) I want to be in something that floats or have my scuba gear on.
Happy new year to all,
Tom

Hey K of O,
If you could hop on one of the Ice Shelves about the time that it is about to break away from land (like the one up on Ellesmere Island) maybe you could float down my way for a visit.
I could meet you on the New Jersey coast!?!?!
