D4D 78A vs 82J was created by sdmuleman
Got a guy with a D4D 82J4759 looking for a service manual. I have a manual for 78A1-up D4D tractors. From what I can find the 82J is a later version of the 78A, are they close enough that the manual would be useful? I know the engine is different, any other changes? Looks like the engine should be a 3304, right?

Thanks.

78A is a D330A (4-1/2" bore) 82J4759 is a 3304 (4-3/4" bore). Not a good match for manuals.

Anything other than the engine? I have a copy of the engine section of a different manual that covers the 3304/06 engine, so can cover that issue.

OM, can you post the next page? Turns out the parts manual he got from me is 82J1-3443, would like to see what changed between that manual and his machine.

What next page? What you see covers 78A1-up and 82J1-up. There is a third page but just has two items on the 7Rxxxx model.
82J3443 is the last of the D330C's. 3306 starts with 82J3444

Thought there might be another, my bad.

There appears to be at least 3 parts manuals - 82J1-3443, 82J3444-4150 and 4151-. First break corresponds to the 3304 engine change, any idea what the second one is?

The manual I had sold the gentleman is the first - 82J1-3443. With what I've learned in this discussion we realized it's going to not be right for his tractor so I'm giving him a refund. There's a 82J3444-4150 manual on ebay for about the same price, ($25) but the only thing I can find for the 4151-up is over $100 for a reprint. The hope is that the 3444-4150 may be close enough to have some value, so was trying to figure out what the difference is at that serial break.

Thanks.

I don't see anything different about 82J4151-up except the parts manual went back to including the engine details instead of having to refer to the separate 3304 Vehicular Engine parts book for the 78P engine. Get him the correct manual that covers his machine!!!!

Hello folks. I know this thread is very old and I am new here so I hope it pops up for you all?? I have D4 series d with model 78a5803. I am working on it now. Was running well the all of a sudden the clutch would not disengage. I found out that the rod under the trans cap was bent. That in conjunction with worn out fittings and bolts on the clutch lever would not allow it to disengage. Once I got that right, it popped right out. So all good, but have drained all the fluids. I purchased a manual from Jensales and the best the could figure was a manual for a 78A1. It does not appear to be the correct one. I have also never soon a service manual that did not have types of fluids to be used and no capacities. I have already changed the engine oil but need to know type and amount of hydraulic fluid. I have the T0-4 fluid for the trans but have no idea of the amounts. I have studied my manual and looked all over the net. It seems that the amounts/quantities are all over the place. Some help would be much appreciated.
